With more than 80 years of experience, the Peterbilt Motors Company is one of the most tried and tested names in the industry. Early Years

In 1939, loggerman T.A. Peterman bought a promising truck manufacturer called Fageol Truck and Motor Company. Peterman’s previous experience with the logging industry had made him familiar with the latest advances in truck-related technology, such as air brakes. In the years after WWII, the company became well known for innovative designs, including the iconic bubble-nosed cab-over-engine Model 350.

1970’s to 1990’s

The 1970’s saw the American economy expand rapidly, causing an increase in the number of goods being sent across the country. This, in turn, led to a boom in the trucking industry. Peterbilt continued to innovate, phasing out older models in favor of more advanced ones. In response to the greater demand, Peterbilt would open a new manufacturing facility in Denton, Texas, with the area eventually becoming the company’s new headquarters.

The 21st Century

Peterbilt® trucks continue to be some of the most innovative in the industry. Having recently celebrated its 80th anniversary, the company shows no signs of slowing down.
